Conclave 2011

Hello SR-7B!!

Conclave 2011 is quickly approaching and I hope you are ready! This year Conclave will be held at beautiful Camp Raven Knob on the weekend of April 15th - 17th. To get your Lodge excited about going, I encourage you to practice quest events so that YOU can prepare for the coveted Quest for the Golden Arrow award. Quest events this year include activities like the spam toss, log runners, a frozen t-shirt race, and the Lodge knot. As well as the Quest for the Golden Arrow there will be OAX, a Conclave service project and patch trading. OAX, like in years past, will feature many different exhibits which will allow Arrowmen to learn new things that will enrich their scouting experience. The Conclave service project will benefit the surrounding school system of Surry County. We will be packing school supplies in backpacks for the children who attend schools in Surry County. Lastly, there will be great food, fun, and patch trading. Don’t forget to register for Conclave 2011 and remember to bring your Lodge and be prepared for the BEST, MOST AMAZING, awesomest Conclave at Camp Raven Knob EVER. Hope to see you there!

Yours in Service,
Jack Koch

 SR-7B Gives Back

As many of you may or may not know, last year at Conclave we hosted a Sectional service project called, “Give to the Troops.” This project was a huge success; the six lodges in the Section came together and assembled 1000 care packages for troops overseas. This year at Conclave 2011 the six lodges will come together again for a weekend full of fun, excitement, learning, and service. This year the service project is appropriately named, “Pack the Bus.” We will be assembling school supplies for under-privileged children in the Surry County School System. We will be making 1200 school care packages to hand out to children in grades Kindergarten through second. There will be 600 packages handed out before the end of the school year to enable the children to continue learning and being creative over the summer. The rest of the 600 school care packages will be handed out at the beginning of the 2011 – 2012 school year so the children will be able to start school with the necessary and proper materials needed to allow them to succeed.

In contrast to last year’s service project, there are additional features to this year’s service project including priority placement during the Saturday night Sundae and the chance to win one of three sashes signed by national OA officers. To take advantage of these features you will need to participate in the Conclave Service Project between certain times. Let’s achieve our goal for this years’ service project of 1200 bags, so tell your friends and pack your bags and head down to Camp Raven Knob for the Conclave you will never forget. Hope to see you all there!!

Conclave Participants,

Conclave is almost upon us and with it our opportunity for service as well as fellowship.  In addition, to the "Pack the Bus" service project where we will ask each participant to assist in putting together a package of school supplies for children, we will also offer an opportunity for participants who are 17 or older to give blood through the American Red Cross on site on Saturday.  The American Red Cross similar to past years has asked us to pre-register the time slots available and fill-in with walk-ins as necessary.  Blood donations will be accepted from 9AM - 2PM and there are multiple slots every 15 minutes.

If you are interested in giving blood, please pre-register by emailing Brett Warner at brett@brettwarner.com with your name, preferred time and cell phone number that you can be reached at on Saturday of Conclave.  Thanks in advance for your support of these great service opportunities!

Conclave Experience

Conclave is one of the best events of the year. I have been to the last 4 conclaves and can’t wait to go to the next one. The best part of the weekend is the fellowship with brothers from all over the state.

We all have fun with expressing our spirit. I have never seen spirit so serious at a scout function then when I am at Conclave. If you participate in the Indian Affairs like I do then you can enter competitions. My favorite one is the fancy dancing competition that I participate in every year. So come out and join me at conclave this year and prepared to have fun!
